Privacy Policy
Quest sends you one thing to find outside each day by text message, and you reply with a photo. This policy explains what Starry AI Inc. ("Quest", "we", "us") collects to do that, why, who helps us, and your choices. Questions: hello@starryai.com.
1. What we collect
- What you give us at sign-up: your mobile number, your email address, the time you want your quest, your time zone (read from your browser), your plan, and a record of the consent you gave to receive texts (the wording, the time and your IP address).
- Your messages: every message you send us and we send you, with the time and the quest day it belongs to, and every photo or other file you send. Messages may reach us from your phone number or from the Apple ID email you use for iMessage.
- Billing: Stripe handles payment. We store your Stripe customer and subscription identifiers, your plan, trial dates and payment status. We never see or store your card number.
- Visits: on our website, the screens you view and buttons you tap, with a random visit id, the ad that brought you, and rough screen size.
2. Why we use it
- To run Quest: send your daily quest at your time, reply to your photos, make the weekly picture of your photos, remind you before any charge, and bill your plan.
- To improve Quest: we read the conversation and look at photos to understand what people enjoy and where Quest falls short. People at Starry AI may see your messages and photos for this.
- To measure our ads (section 4), and to keep Quest safe and lawful, including tax and accounting records.
We do not sell your personal information. We never use your photos in ads or share them publicly without asking you first.
3. Who helps us
- LoopMessage delivers our messages through Apple iMessage, so your number, messages and photos pass through LoopMessage and Apple.
- Stripe for payments; Supabase for our database and photo storage; Fly.io for our servers; Postmark for email. All are in the United States.
- Meta for ad measurement (section 4).
We may also disclose information if the law requires it, to protect our rights or someone's safety, or to a successor if our business is sold, in which case this policy still applies.
4. Ad measurement
Our website loads the Meta pixel, which sets cookies and tells Meta about page views and steps such as starting checkout or starting a trial, so we can measure our ads. We never send Meta your phone number, email or messages. You can limit this in your Meta ad settings or by blocking third-party cookies.
5. How long we keep it
We keep your messages and photos while you use Quest and for up to 24 months after, then delete them. Billing records are kept as long as tax law requires (generally up to seven years). To have your data deleted sooner, email hello@starryai.com from the address you signed up with, and we will do it within 30 days, except for records we must keep by law.
6. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you can ask to see, correct, delete or get a copy of your information, and object to how we use it. California residents can also ask what we collect and share. Email hello@starryai.com; we will reply within 30 days. Reply STOP to any message to stop all texts.
7. Security and children
Photos are stored privately and are only reachable by us. Data is encrypted in transit. Quest is not for anyone under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.
8. Changes
We will post changes here and update the date above. If a change materially reduces your rights, we will tell you by email first.
